In this masterclass, specially designed for kids or those who are starting out on Indian Classical Music, Mahesh Kale ji will be taking us through the rudiments of Hindustani music.
This is going to be an interactive session, that's part instruction, part quizzing. Join us to go through the basics of terminology, building blocks of music.
In this session, the following topics are going to be covered.
1. Swar (notes), and Taal (rhythm)
- In this various aspects of melody and rhythm going to be addressed, including the basic notes, Shuddh, Komal, Teebra notes, Saptak (or Octaves), Purvanga and Uttaranga, and more.
2. Classification of Swar
- The movement of the swar, the ascending and descending.
- The hierarchical relationship between the swars.
3. Taal
- The Laya terminology: What is Laya, Matra, Sum, Khali?
- Tabla Bols: Whats a spoken language of rhythm?
- Avartan, Khand, Vibhag
4. Raga
- What is Raga music
This is the first of the series of such masterclasses by Mahesh ji to introduce world of Hindustani classical music to anyone.
This is going to be an interactive session, and there are going to be quizzing as well. Do plan to be there with a pen and paper.

How do I attend the session?
The sessions will be held on livdemy.com. Log onto the site with your registered account 15 minutes before the time of the session and go to the session page. You should see a button to enter the password there when the session starts.Test your mic and video just to make sure everything is working fine.
I'm not able to see or hear anything while in session. What should I do?
LivDemy sessions are best attended on Chrome or Firefox. Make sure your browser is updated to the latest version. If you are still facing any technical issue, please try refreshing your browser. Will I get a recording of this session?

How can I take a live chat in the session?
