Brought back for the third time due to public demand, this masterclass would serve as an introduction to playing music on the iPad using the app GeoShred. I have been using the app to play Indian Classical Music.

When working with a digital instrument, the possibilities are endless. There are plenty of ways to play your favourite songs. With good technique, exercises and practice your playing will sound a lot better.

In this masterclass, I would be going through the following:

- App setup and overview

- Setting up your control surface and playing surface

- Scales and exercises

- Sliding Exercises (Gamakas)

This masterclass is for people who have downloaded the GeoShred Pro app and would like more of an insight into the techniques that I use. Prior knowledge of basic Western/Indian Classical music theory  would be very helpful for your understanding. Do send in your questions in advance so that I can answer them during the class.

PS - Download this GeoShred preset before the masterclass (open link in Safari on the iPad) - http://www.moforte.com/mahesh-raghvan-shares-his-xitar-preset/

Note: iPad requirements (A note from the instructors, Madan Pisharody and Mahesh Raghvan).

Any currently available iPad will do if it's only for GeoShred.

- iPad 9th Gen (onwards)

- iPad 10th Gen

- iPad Air 4,

- iPad Air 5,

- iPad Pro 11"

- iPad Pro 12"

Avoid iPad mini for its screen size being too small. If anybody has iPad mini, they can start learning with it. But eventually they can plan on purchasing a bigger one later for the ease.

Mahesh Raghvan is an Indian musician who is known for his Carnatic fusion music. His experiments with Carnatic music on the iPad have multi-million views on social media. Mahesh was a pioneer in bringing music on Touch OS to Indian mainstream music. One of the most popular apps in that space is GeoShred. He came up with innovative ways to produce the Indian note bends (also referred to as Gamaks and Meends) on the iPad surface. He was spotted by none other than the legendary Jordan Rudess, the father of GeoShred, and together with Mahesh' input, the platform was advanced to reproduce expressions and inflections that are typical to Indian music on an iOS device. This innovation has created a whole new generation of musicians around the world who have taken and created incredible music with iPad. Mahesh still remains the biggest champion of GeoShred and a force to reckon with, playing Indian classical, or semi-classical on iPad with incredible expressions. On LivDemy, Mahesh conducts a lot of live sessions on GeoShred, music production. There's also a complete course hosted by him, How to play music on iPad.
