Music Production for Indian Music

By Mahesh Raghvan

In this masterclass, I would be talking about my approach to producing Indian Music, specifically my work in the genre of Indian Classical Fusion. Join me as I go over producing a song from scratch during the session and going over one of my pre-produced songs. The topics covered during the session would be as follows.

Fundamental Concepts

  • Working with Melody
  • Creating Chord Structure and Harmony
  • Time Signatures / Taalas

Song Structure

  • Creating structure out of musical ideas
  • Commonly used song structures
  • Repetition

Arrangement

  • Different elements of a song - Lead, Bass, Harmony and Rhythm
  • Working with sections
  • What you can do, and what you must avoid!

Whom is this masterclass for?

This masterclass is for music producers, arrangers and musicians who want an insight on music production for Indian Music. If you have a specific track of mine that you would like me to go over, do comment in the questions tab with your request. I would be using Logic Pro for this masterclass but the concepts can be executed across any DAW (Garageband, Ableton, Protools, Cubase, FL Studio, etc). Prior knowledge of Western/Indian Classical music theory and/or basic music production skills would be very helpful for your understanding.
