Varun Mishra, the youthful scion of the Mishra Family, hails from the esteemed Gharana of Banaras. He has undergone extensive training in various forms of Indian Classical Music, including Khayal, tarana, tappa, thumri, dadra, chaiti, kajri, and bhajan, under the guidance of his late Guru and Grandfather, Pandit Ganesh Prasad Mishra (former Vice Chancellor of Bhatkhande University-Lucknow), and his father, Pandit Vidyadhar Mishra (Professor & former HOD of the Music Department at Allahabad University). Varun belongs to a lineage of eminent musicians from the Banaras Gharana, a family of maestros that includes illustrious figures like his great-grandfather, the late Pt. Bade Ramdas Ji Mishra, his grandfather, the late Pt. Harishankar Mishra, his great-grandfather, the late Pt. Anokhe lal Mishra, his uncle, the Padmavibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj, and the Padmabhushan Pt. Rajan Sajan Mishra, Pt. Chhannulal Mishra, and Padmavibhushan Vidushi Girija Devi ji.
